CANNES — The Cannes Film Festival has revealed the full lineup for its upcoming World Cinema Heritage section, featuring 18 foundational Asian titles restored from fragile original camera negatives using next-generation neural optical reconstruction.
Among the highlights is a pristine 8K scan of Satyajit Ray’s "Devi" and Akira Kurosawa’s "High and Low", both revived after multi-year laboratory conservation efforts in Bologna and Mumbai.
Film preservationists described the initiative as an essential cultural safeguard against nitrate decay and chemical color fading.
