The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has concluded integration reviews for its flagship Shukrayaan orbiter, detailing a sophisticated sensor payload designed to study how Venus evolved into an inhospitable runaway greenhouse.
Central to the payload is an S-band polarimetric Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), developed in collaboration with Swedish and German research laboratories, capable of imaging surface volcanic structures through 60-kilometer-thick cloud layers at 10-meter resolution.
The mission is slated for launch atop the LVM3 heavy-lift vehicle from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in late 2028.
